Sex Factor Ideas 2012

Sex Factor Ideas 2012 is a sexual health innovation competition for young Londoners.  As part of NHS London’s preparation for the 2012 Olympics MBARC is leading an important programme of youth engagement around sexual health services.

Sex Factor Ideas 2012 Competition - Guidelines

Thanks for showing interest in the Sex Factor Ideas 2012.  Please remember your idea must be uploaded to http://www.youtube.com/sexfactorideas2012 Here are the competition guidelines: 

1. You can work on your own or in a small team of up to 4 young people, with one nominated as the team leader.
2. You must enter your idea in the NHS Cluster areas where the team leader lives. More information is at this link http://london.nhs.uk/your-nhs-in-london/nhs-in-london

3. You must be aged 16 to 25 by the closing date of the competition, if you are under 18 you must have parental consent to enter.
4. Any idea deemed offensive will be withdrawn and full details for withdrawal will be given to you in writing.
5. The video you upload onto our YouTube Channel must be between 30 seconds and 2 minutes.
6. Young people from across the UK will be able to vote on your idea so please explain your idea in detail so people viewing it will have a clear understanding of your concept.
7. Your idea must focus on one or more of the following topics:

  • Accessing information, advice and guidance services. 
  • Contraception and the prevention of STIs & HIV.
  • Preventing teenage pregnancy and parenthood.
  • Promoting testing and screening for STIs & HIV.
  • Open category – anything else relating to sex, sexual health and relationships that is important to young people. 

We want you to be as innovative and creative as possible. In the Grand Final the Panel of Experts will be judging you idea on the following criteria: 

  • Innovation and creativity: is this something we haven’t seen before? We are looking for something new, unique and different. If your concept sounds like it is then enter the competition at once.
  • How will this change young people’s way of thinking? You will need to explain why your idea will change young people’s way of thinking.
  • Is it feasible? Make sure your idea can be brought to life.
  • How much will it cost? Try to estimate how much it will cost.
  • Who are you targeting? Feel free to make a special message for certain groups such as young gay men or young people with disabilities.

8. Your idea must be uploaded to http://www.youtube.com/sexfactorideas2012 no later than MONDAY, OCTOBER 31st (revised date). Please post the video as a response to our instructive video. Then tag yours with "sex factor ideas 2012", "sex education" mbarc, nhs (you can copy the tags directly from the footer of our video). 
9. You must register your idea once it is posted on the YouTube Channel

Sex Factor Ideas 2012 Competition - Registration details

To register your entry please send the following information:

1.         The title of your film clip

2.         The name(s) and ages of your team members indicating who is the team leader

3.         Your email address(es)

4.         The full postcode of the team leader.
